【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusedfordeterminationofthecarboncontentofwaterfromavarietyofnatural,domestic,andindustrialsources.Initsmostcommonform,thistestmethodisusedtomeasureorganiccarbonasameansofmonitoringorganicpollutantsinhighpurityanddrinkingwater.Thesemeasurementsarealsousedinmonitoringwastetreatmentprocesses.TherelationshipofTOCtootherwaterqualityparameterssuchaschemicaloxygendemand(COD)andtotaloxygendemand(TOD)isdescribedintheliterature.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftotalcarbon(TC),inorganiccarbon(IC),andtotalorganiccarbon(TOC)inwaterintherangefrom0.5to30mg/Lofcarbon.Higherlevelsmaybedeterminedbysampledilution.Thetestmethodutilizesultraviolet-persulfateoxidationoforganiccarbon,coupledwithaCO2selectivemembranetorecovertheCO2intodeionizedwater.Thechangeinconductivityofthedeionizedwaterismeasuredandrelatedtocarbonconcentrationintheoxidizedsample.Inorganiccarbonisdeterminedinasimilarmannerwithouttherequirementforoxidation.Inbothcases,thesampleisacidifiedtofacilitateCO2recoverythroughthemembrane.TherelationshipbetweentheconductivitymeasurementandcarbonconcentrationisdescribedbyasetofchemometricequationsforthechemicalequilibriumofCO2,HCO3x2212;,H+,andtherelationshipbetweentheionicconcentrationsandtheconductivity.Thechemometricmodelincludesthetemperaturedependenceoftheequilibriumconstantsandthespecificconductances.1.2Thistestmethodhastheadvantageofaveryhighsensitivitydetectorthatallowsverylowdetectionlevelsonrelativelysmallvolumesofsample.Also,useoftwomeasurementchannelsallowsdeterminationofCO2inthesampleindependentlyoforganiccarbon.IsolationoftheconductivitydetectorfromthesamplebytheCO2selectivemembraneresultsinaverystablecalibration,withminimalinterferences.1.3Thistestmethodwasusedsuccessfullywithreagentwaterspikedwithsodiumbicarbonateandvariousorganicmaterials.Itistheuser''sresponsibilitytoensurethevalidityofthistestmethodforwatersofuntestedmatrices.1.4Thistestmethodisapplicableonlytocarbonaceousmatterinthesamplethatcanbeintroducedintothereactionzone.Theinjectoropeningsizegenerallylimitsthemaximumsizeofparticlesthatcanbeintroduced.1.5Inadditiontolaboratoryanalyses,thistestmethodmaybeappliedtoonlinemonitoring.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
