【摘要】:ThispartofBS6779specifiesrequirementsforthedesign,materials,construction(includingstorage,transportationandinstallation)andtestingofvehiclecontainmentparapetsofmetalconstructionnotlessthan12minlength(seeNote2).Theparapetscoveredinthispartaremountedonplinthsnotgreaterthan100mmhighandareintendedtoprovidespecifiedlevelsofcontainmentforvehiclesonhighways.NOTE1Forbarriersinandaboutbuildings,seeBS6180.Forpedestrianparapetsandguardrails,seeBS7818.Forsafetyfencesandbarriersforhighways,seeBS6579.NOTE2Thecontainmentcharacteristicofmetalparapetsisgenerallyprovidedthroughabsorptionoftheenergyofthevehicleimpactbyprogressivecollapseofthesupportsystemoveralengthofparapet.Aparapetoflessthan12mlengthmaynotprovidethespecifiedlevelofcontainment.
